God wants us to know Him better. What questions would I ask Him? How about who is Jesus of Nazateth? Who did He claim to be?
1. He claimed to fulfill prophecy spoken about Himself. He fulfilled the initial prophecy of Zechariah 9:9:
"Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gently and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey."
Every tiime you read Scripture, it has a meaning then, no: and it will have a meaning when Christ returns, with strength, might, and salvation as King of kings. Look what Zechariah says about Christ's return in 12:9-10
"On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem. And I will pour out on the House of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn son.."
Are you praying for your jewish and Moslem brothers? Let's pray them into the kngdom now. They need to see Jesus, or they are never going to believe.
2. He claimed to be our promised eternal earthly and heavenly King in John 18:36-38:
"Jesus said, 'My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now, my kingdom is from another place.' ;You are a king then," said Pilate. Jesus answered, 'You are right in saying I am a king. In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.' 'You are a king, then!' said Pilate."
He got it. Who else called Jesus a king that day? Some ofHis chosen people - the palm branches, the cloaks - except royalty should arrive on a white horse. The humble one comes on a donkey. Something else happened on that day, talking about kings. Jesus of Nazareth declared Himself to be Son of Man, and Jesus Christ declared Himself to be Son of God. He is coming again soon as the eternal Divine King to conquer and subdue the earth and Satan, his antichrist, and rebellious sons of perdition- all who have gone after evil and self-worship and refused to worship God. Look at this in the Book of Revelation 19:1-2:
"After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: "Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are His judgmentss. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of His servants."
The second coming will not be like the first one. It will happen accordng to His Will, not ours. Who did Jesus of Nazareth claim to be? He had to be three things. A prophet, a priest, and a king.
3. Jesus claimed to be our prophet in Mark1:14-15:
:After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. The time has come,' he said. 'The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news.'" He was speaking of the temple of His own body. When He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered what He had said, and believed what Jesus had spoken to them.
4. A priest should carry the sins of the people and transfer them in sacrifice. Luke 22;41-44 tells us that:
"He withdrew about a ston'e throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, 'Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not miy will, but yours be done.' An angel from heaven appeared to Him and strengthened Him. And being in anguish, He prayed more earnestly, and His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground."
Al the sins of the world, past, present, and future, Jesus took upon Himself. The one who knew no sin, who couldn't contemplate the thought of sin, God Himself became sin for you and me. I'm thankful that He did it Can you image what it would look like? Can you imagine the pain? Luke 19:41-42 tells us:
As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city, He wept over it and said, 'If you, even you, had only known on this day, what would bring you peace - but but now it is hidden from your eyes.'"
They declared Jesus of Nazareth to be nothing more than a mere rabbi. What is the world telling you to do with your faith today? Shut up. Don't you dare tell me anything else! What did Jesus tell us to do? Tell them anyway. Love them anyway.
Do I know who Jesus is to me personally? Is Jesus really the long-awaited King of Glory He claimed to be? Is Jesus my King of Glory? Amm I ready to tell others who Jesus of Nazareth really claims to be? Am I ready to prepare others for the second coming of Jesus? If I'm not ready, they won't be either. He is ready to come on a white horse, to be our eternal prophet, our high priest, and our King of Glory.
