Evolution vs. Creation - Why did it all begin?

At the start of another year let's talk about beginnings. Consider how life on Earth started. I know what we learned in school but I'm asking you to take a fresh look at our origins. Already I hear a critical reader grumble: "Hmph, another clergyman attacking evolution" I'll say it up front - I'm not as concerned with Evolution's answer to how life got started on earth as I'm worried about its suggestion of why it all began. More of that later.

Latest Scientific thought believes the oldest thing in the universe is light (if you discount darkness!) The first book in the Bible says that in the first era, time or day God made light. Wow, what a coincidence. Whether you consider that day a 24 hour period or millions of years is small stuff. However lets agree with the modern scientific idea that there was a definite beginning and end to that time - as seen from here on earth. Oh and by the way notice how the Bible stresses each period of creation had a morning and an evening!

We are probing Mars for any sign of life. TV documentaries include our search for water on the planet. Evolutionists claim that after the elements constituting our earth coalesced, vast amounts of H20 swirled around the edge of this fiery ball of molten rock. As the surface cooled two great seas separated. One steaming on the surface, the other therefore filling the skies with intensive mist. Moses wrote that the second thing God did in creation was dividing earth's waters earthward and heavenward. Mmmm!

Scientists claim that as the waters cooled the earth's crust land - dry land, appeared. Guess what the Book of Genesis says happened next. So now we have land, sea and a sky filled with thick mist. In this thick mist our evolutionists believe the first life appearing was single celled leading to vegetation - well some of them anyway for they are so divided in opinions that in any room where there are 5 of them you are sure to hear about 8 opinions expressed. Ho hum - the Bible says the plants were created next.

OK, "Smart Alex" preacher what about the inconsistency of day 5? Remember the thick mist filling the skies? A noted evolutionist claimed that it was so thick that the sun was less visible than the cloudiest day. I think so too, but when the mist began clearing there were two lights in the sky - a bright one ruling the day and a lesser light at night. Need I say more?!

So next come man and the animals. No, not in that order according to Prince Moses of Egypt. First life in the seas, then bird life, then animals on land and last of all mankind. This is amazing stuff. We have traced the closest connection to the order of evolution found in any ancient document in history.

Tell me the chances of a man educated in ancient Egypt knowing this order. Their worldview of half animal deities doing fanciful tricks is displayed in the hieroglyphics they left on tombs. Not so with Moses. If you can calculate the chances of a man thousands of years before Christ leaving us so scientific a view of the start of life on earth I'll tell you why I believe that the Bible was inspired by God Himself!

It's not evolution's "how" we arrived here that hurts young minds. It's the implied conclusion taught at school today of "why" we got here. The Bible claims God made you to know Him. I preach creationism because it places relationships at the center of existence. Evolution says you are here because of a random selection chain of accidents. Now you answer the question, "so what?"
